Thursday, November 8
We are one week into November and a lot of things have already happened. We had a small meeting at the hostel this morning. Sunday we are going to clean the buildings and the whole plot outside is full of beech leaves from the trees. We need to clean all that up, to make it look nice and inviting.
An unexpected visit
Then my really good friend and former colleague Anil who´s currently living in the US called me saying he was in town for meetings. He had some time and just wanted to see how I was. Off course he was invited over to the hostel for a cup of coffee and talk. Unforatunately we were still in our meeting, so he had to wait patiently until we were finished. However, when I gave him the quick tour round the buildings he was really, really impressed. Now where we have all the furniture in place in many of the rooms, we are actually more or less ready to receive guests for meetings or workshops. My feeling about this is very positive, its easy money to get without large investments.
More guests have announced their arrival. Last night and tonight we are having two technicians staying who are installaling some machinery at a local business. From Friday to Sunday another guest. Now we need to decorate more rooms, two are not enough. The furniture will be ordered today and hopefully assembled by Sunday meaning we will as of next week have four rooms for rent! Not much, but better than nothing. Hopefully we will soon have a great small town hostel up and running…
Necessity is the mother of invention
That must be our motto at the moment.
Yesterday I created a free WordPress blog site for our business. The hostel will need their own, but that is not my job. The site is in Danish only and meant to be information platform for those of our supporters who are not on Facebook. A lot of people have asked for more information and what is better than a blog?
Anyway, we have a lot of people visiting us. Some because they are interested in our project, others are repairing the heating system which is part of our district heating. Yesterday the water was turned on in the old hospThe two buildings meant for hostel business are more or less ready when we have all furniture in place.
However, the hospital building demands a lot more than just a quick makeover. The next few months are crucial for our survival.
But I´m very positive now!
