Good news received
Yesterday we handed over the hotel to our tenant. The entire week we had full house and had to clean all rooms before handing over the key.
Having a tenant gives us times to focus on the next steps. Now we´ve saved the hostel we have to get the citizen´s house up and running. Two of my dear co-workers on the project, went yesterday on a 11 day trip to Kenya to visit Karens Blixen´s farm and see a bit of the country. Their trip has been planned for more than a year and it´s a well-deserved break. I hope they come back rested and with new energy…
All day yesterday, we had people coming in a steady flow to rent flats and rooms. Not on the hostel, but in the old hospital.
Today, we were informed that we will most likely receive a funding of DKK 250.000 in total to create a reception area and a livingroom space in the building. What we want now is to give all people in Brande; citizens, tourists, ex-pats and everyone who´s interested, a space and place to meet and greet. Where new network arises, where Danes meet foreigners and the other way round. Where we can receive the more than 50 nationalities that visit and live in our town.
This is the first step. Next step will be to restore the building to what it looked like when it was built in 1905. Third step will be to connect all three buildings with a glass extension and more rooms. For this we need funding too – a lot of money.
It seems as if things are just going our way at the moment. It´s wonderful and absolutely fantastic, what we have working hard on for the last year finally happens. Hard and voluntary work, none of us have – or will – receive any money. It´s all for the greater cause – and damn, I´m proud of myself!
