The blog and I had an anniversary the other day – and I completely forgot. On the 17th I had been blogging for a year!
Oh, wow… A whole year has already passed. Quite a lot of things have happened – both to me and Nature Says Hello – since I began blogging. When I was left without a job, it was winter and cold. Not being able to go outside on my usual nature excursions, I was utterly bored during the winter, I needed something to do, learn a new skill and pass some time. Blogging was somehow obvious, because it was easy to get started. It took me a week to find the right name. After considering several names I decided for Nature Says Hello.
- First of all – it was not already taken
- It sounded both positive and welcoming
- It also shows my interest in nature – which it´s all about
Voila! …then I was online. It was all learning-by-doing. Watching YouTube videos and reading the different how-to foras. I must admit – there was a lot of struggling and not knowing what I was doing. Trial and error was the way forward.
I had decided the blog should be strictly – and entirely – on nature, with no personal updates – at all – ever… – Nature Says HelloIt was great fun to blog, however the winter was cold, long and seemed endless. Pacing around the garden for photos of first spring flowers could be done once or twice. It was bitterly cold, so staying outside for long wasn´t an option anyway. Quickly I found out that noone was reading what I wrote – it was simply too unpersonal and boring.
I found out it´s quite difficult to write new interesting updates at least twice a week if you have nothing interesting to write about…After giving it a good thought, my posts slowly became more personal. That is what I like to read about on other blogs – other people´s lives. The ups and downs that make up our lives. Again, it has all been trial and error – writing something and seeing if anybody comments or likes my writing. I´m still figuring out what works, however receiving likes and comments is not what it is all about for me. After a year I´m still in learning mode and will eventually be skilled in WP. Hopefully I can then offer my skills to others. I already have three homepages/blogs that I maintain now – all for free. One is for a local political party which I am a member of. The other is for our Hostel / Citizen´s House. And my own blog. All very different sites with different content and different purposes. All built from scratch, I learn very much from that. Anyway, blogging is great fun, hard work and I will definately continue! Thanks a lot for all the likes and comments the past year, it´s always nice to hear from you! Read my first post here
