Of course you immediately think of the Simon & Garfunkel version of the folk song Scarborough Fair… who doesn’t?
But to me, herbs also a valued extra to the food.
Herbs are key ingredients in my garden… and not quite… how to use the sage???
I know the sage plant is good for keeping dogs off your ground as they don’t like the smell, dried and burned it will cleanse a house of evil spirits (!) and also as tea to keep the female hormonal balance at ease during the menopause… but in food? How do you use sage?
That must be my next goal; to incorporate sage in our meals.
The parsley, rosemary and thyme are all used I my everyday cooking.
I use the parsley and chives every day. The rosemary, add a delicate flavour to meat and potatoes.
The oregano, my wild marjoram and basil are used on almost everything. Next year I will also add tarragon and spring onion to my herb garden.
