They are every gardeners nightmare, these bright yellow flowers with the roots that go deep down and break easily when you try to pull them up.
In the lawn they grow and flower below the lawn mower blade and you have to pick each bud manually.
And even though you try to keep them out of your garden, removing one and each, next year you’ll have just as many. The seeds have an amazing ability to fly, fly, fly and land where they are most unwanted.
I have learned to live with them. The use of chemicals doesn’t seem to affect them much anyway and they’re also banned in my garden. I have called for a kind of truce, no dandelions in my flower beds, but they can stay in the lawn. So be it!
