It's Friday evening 19.30. November went in a haze of busyness and tons of things to do. So, what happened?
First of all - I've got a new job. Senior Project Manager at Johnson Controls in Holme near Aarhus. Great job - great colleagues - and a nice and well meaning boss! What's not to like?
I shared my no-job update on LinkedIn the same day I was let off and asked people to share. Fortunately for me, people did share and soon more than 2000 had seen my post. I decided to take a different approach towards my unemployment this time and let "the universe" work for me.
I had a lot of people contacting me on LinkedIn - all with either serious job offers or asking for permission to share my CV in their organisations and their network.
November came and a coffee talk turned to more talks and finally a contract. Then
Since Monday this week I've been travelling to Aarhus and back again every day. We have only had one car for the last many years, but now two are required, so I had to go car hunting. I'm now the proud owner of a two year old VW Polo Diesel. A small, but good car. Not a luxury car, but it does a really good job in taking my safely to work and home again.
I get up at 04.45 each morning and drive from home one hour later. I arrive at work around 6.45 leaving me enough time to get my contact lenses in, check my make-up and prepare for the day. Traffic insane if you want to start at 08.00, that's why I prefer to start early.
The one hour drive each way is ok. On the way to work I prepare mentally, on my way home I empty my head from work related things and focus on my family.
The week has been busy and I've went to bed early every night. My head full of input and my body tired from a new everyday rhythm. Meeting new people, trying to create a network, getting new work tasks, all exciting - but also tiring.
Now, it's time for my first weekend as employed.
