With loads of rain, we face autumn
September has arrived with showers so heavy I almost forgot summer already. No-one longs for the sun to disappear and live in a grey world the next six-seven (!) months. Let's hope for a cold, sunny autumn and winter!
Mushrooms shoot up rapidly everywhere. The moist, warm weather gives them optimal conditions to spread their spores before it's too late.
The garden snails and slugs are also active, eating their way through my hosta - both leaves, flowers and seed pods. You can't turn a leaf or remove garden waste without them being everywhere, leaving slimy trails.
The birds are active, eating all they can, right now there are many mosquitos and small flies - just eat away my feathered friends!
Bianca - the cat - spends her days chasing leaves, flies, butterflies and dragonflies. The latter crunching much to her enjoy, when she eats them.
