Yes, we indeed did it. Late last night we were informed that the council – in a closed meeting – had agreed upon entrusting us the hostel! That was so much a champagne moment…
Now we really need to step up looking for funding.
We must build a professional board, create a company, find a tenant and keep the business going from today. The current tenants are leaving 31st August and have no longer any employees. This means, they are not taking in more guests than they are able to service themselves. But we need them to take in reservations from September and forth.
As I wrote in a previous post
the hostel building is ok, but the old hospital building is in a very poor condition. Before end of August we need to find at least DKK 600.000 as a beginning. 300K will be for the council and another 300K are for furniture, beds, linen, kitchen utensils, tableware etc.
It is said the first million is always the hardest, I guess its true. Right now we have no money.
This weekend, when Brande is hosting our annual International Street Art Festival, we will sell donation certificates to everyone.
Next week when Brande is hosting our international football cup, we must also sell the certificates.
Right now we have a pre-application with the largest fund for restoration of old buildings in Denmark Realdania. We will receive their answer, which hopefully will be positive, within the next 14 days. If they say yes to the project, we will receive funding, architectural expertise, a professional project manager and much more. But, more important; a yes from Realdania will mean funding from other organisations as well, as they are so well recognized in the restoration business.
So let’s get into business!
